Maryln Mayes

Maryln "Susie" Mayes, 83, of Vincennes, passed away April 24, 2014, at Gentle Care Nursing Home. Susie had been a member of the former North United Methodist Church, and was currently a member of Community United Methodist Church. A 1949 graduate of Lincoln High School, she had worked at Borden's Market. Born November 12, 1930 in Knox County, IN, she was the daughter of John Henry and Dollie (Maynard) Branham. They preceded her, along with her husband, Robert Mayes, whom she married Oct. 10, 1954; a granddaughter, Lacey Sipples; and a great-grandchild, Archer Meeks. Surviving are her children, Angela (Harold) Meeks of Vincennes, Brock (Judy) Mayes of Terre Haute, IN, and Lori (Jeff) Hume of Carlisle, IN; a sister, Gloria Lafferty of Vincennes; grandchildren, Donovan Meeks of Vincennes, Johnathan Meeks of Vincennes, Jim (Lindsey) Meeks of Vincennes, Clint (Sandy) Meeks of Carmel, IN, Ethan (Annie) Meeks of Lafayette, IN, Rob Mayes of Evansville, and Bre Sipples of Vincennes; a great-grandchild, August Hart Meeks; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 - 3:00 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The funeral service will begin at 3:00, at the funeral home.
