Ailesse Tucker, a precious daughter, beloved child of God, honor student, gifted young woman, and faithful soul whose earthly journey ended far too soon at just age 19.
How someone so young, so full of promise, so filled with life, could be taken from us. Just weeks ago, she was celebrating her high school graduation and was beginning the next chapter of her life, pursuing a degree in Computer Science and looking toward a future filled with possibility, achievement, discovery, and dreams.
As Christians, we do not deny our grief. Jesus Himself wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus. God does not ask us to pretend we are not hurting. He invites us to bring our sorrow to Him.
We give thanks for the 19 years we were blessed to have Ailesse among us. She was unique in the most beautiful sense of the word. Living with Asperger's, she often viewed the world through a lens that many of us could not fully understand. Yet that perspective became one of her greatest gifts. She saw details others missed. She pursued knowledge with determination. She approached her interests with focus and passion. She possessed a mind designed by God for learning, understanding, and discovery.
She excelled academically, becoming an honor student through hard work, perseverance, and commitment. Her accomplishments were not accidental. They reflected countless hours of effort, discipline, and courage. Those who knew her best understood that beneath her quiet moments was a heart filled with kindness, loyalty, and sincerity.
Though finding the words to connect with others was a quiet struggle that kept her circle small, the few who truly knew her found a depth, tenderness, and loyalty that words could never capture.
She loved video gaming, the safe kind, and K-Pop on YouTube. They were windows into who she was. They revealed her curiosity, her intelligence, her creativity, and her joy. Her life was not measured merely by grades, awards, or achievements. Her life was measured by the people she touched. A smile, a laugh.
As difficult as it is to speak about her death, we cannot ignore the painful circumstances that brought us here. A senseless act of violence and destruction robbed this world of a bright young life. It is one of life's painful ironies that her parents spent so much of their lives helping others, especially those facing homelessness, hardship, and despair. They opened their hearts to people society often overlooks. They believed in serving the vulnerable because they believed every person bears the image of God.
The actions of one troubled individual do not erase the dignity of those who struggle, nor do they diminish the compassion that defined this family's commitment to serving others. A young woman standing on the threshold of a promising future. Most importantly, a child of God. May the memory of Ailesse continue to shine brightly in all of us until we meet again in God's eternal kingdom. She is survived by sister Brittany Hogg of Fort Wayne, William Weaver, grandfather, preceded her.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at First Church of God, 1408 St. Clair St., Vincennes, IN 47591.
