Angela Lynn (Smoot) VanPelt, 46, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the U of L Health Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on April 19, 1979, to Keith Smoot & Debbie (Chesser) O’Haver, in Washington, Indiana.

Angela attended Washington High School and was a member of the 1997 graduating class. Following high school, she attended Vincennes University where she went on to receive her associate’s degree in paralegal studies.

On August 15, 2008, Angela married the love of her life, Steven VanPelt, and they spent over 17 years together happily married.

Angela attended Bethany Christian Church in Washington, where she found community and connection. She was an office manager for Riverside Energy for 7 years and enjoyed her work. Her passion for crafting and her exceptional artistic talent brought joy not only to her but to all those fortunate enough to witness her creations. Whether it was solving jigsaw puzzles or building elaborate Lego structures with her son Corbin, Angela's pursuit of family adventures knew no bounds. She exemplified the spirit of togetherness, ensuring that family time was filled with laughter and cherished memories.

In Angela’s final act of kindness, she made the brave and courageous decision to be an organ donor. Her priceless gift of life will go on to change the lives of several people.

She is survived by her husband, Steven VanPelt; her children, Kelsey VanPelt and Corbin VanPelt; her parents, Keith (Sandy) Smoot & Debbie (Pat) O’Haver; her parents-in-law, Keith (Kathy) VanPelt; her sister, Susie (Ty) Hatton; her stepsiblings, Cody (Amber) Barber, and Krystle (Brian Wysock) Barber; and several nieces.

Visitation for Angela will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 4:00-8:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana 47501. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 12:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers with Pastor Tom Watson officiating. Friends and family may visit from 11:00am ET until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice: Washington Animal Shelter, or, Friends for Animals. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
