Barbara “Mimi” Irene Martin, 89, of Washington, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on March 23, 1937, to the late Ira & Mildred (Faucet) Alexander, in Greene County, Indiana. She attended Scotland High School and was a member of the 1954 graduating class. Following, she attended Indiana Business College.

On March 16, 1962, Mimi married the love of her life, Robert W. Martin, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1990.

Mimi spent her working career as a homemaker, making sure her family and home were well taken care of. She volunteered in her later years at North Elementary for many years, assisting teachers in any area they had a need. Mimi was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Washington and stayed active in church activities. She had been a resident at Cedar Creek in Washington for several years, and she was the heart and soul during her tenure residing there. She greatly enjoyed being active in all the planned activities. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and board games.

Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Martin; her son, John R. Martin; her parents, Ira & Mildred; and her siblings, Arewana Ingalls, Joan Taylor, Phyllis Autrey, Vera Floyd, Marjorie Parkes, James Alexander, Donald Alexander, Jim Noel, and Fredrick Alexander.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Wadsworth and her spouse Doug, her daughter-in-law, Anita Martin; her grandchildren, Rob Martin and his spouse Jessica, Erin Hittepole and her spouse Courtney; Eric Wadsworth and his spouse Haley, Evan Wadsworth and his spouse Michaela, Will Martin and his spouse Cheyenna, T.J. Martin and his spouse Ashley; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Hugh Michael Alexander and his spouse Nancy; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mimi will be held on September 29, 2026, from 11:00am-3:00pm ET at New Hope Christian Church 559 E 100 S Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will begin at the conclusion of visitation beginning at 3:00pm. Following services, Mimi will be laid to rest next to her late husband Robert at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
