Betty Jo (McCracken) Fausnacht, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2025, at BridgePointe Health Campus in Vincennes, Indiana. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Betty was born on September 20, 1935, to Ray and Hollis (Scarlett) McCracken in West Baden, Indiana. She was the oldest of 7 children.
Betty married the love of her life, Tom Fausnacht, on December 22, 1956. They celebrated 61 years of marriage until Tom’s death in 2017. Together they had 3 children.
Betty is survived by her children Teri Sutton (Dave) of Vincennes, Brad Fausnacht (Tamara) of St. Francisville, IL and Holly Dale (Brad) of Vincennes. Grandchildren, Spencer Barmes, Victoria Halter (Zach), Rebekah Kopatich (Andrew) and Drake Barmes all of Vincennes, Hunter Fausnacht (Jacque) of Indialantic, Florida, Heath Fausnacht (India) of St. Francisville, IL, Jacquelyn Cunningham (Jeff) of Vincennes, Jennifer Minderman (Chris) of Bloomington, IN. Betty had 15 great- grandchildren – Keller, Keagan and Kason Halter, Collin and Mila Kopatich, Thomas and Lauren Fausnacht, Lincoln and Sullivan Fausnacht, Emma, Marissa and Jeffrey Cunningham and Colten, Elle and Brooks Minderman. She is also survived by 3 siblings – Mike McCracken (Kathy) of Vincennes, , Kathy Pickens (Jim, deceased) of Brownsburg, IN and Gene McCracken (Janice) McCracken of Bedford, IN. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom, her parents Ray and Hollis McCracken and three brothers, Larry McCracken, Robert (Bob) McCracken and Richard (Dick) McCracken.
Betty was a Registered Nurse and did her training at Good Samaritan Hospital where the nurses lived for 3 years to do their schooling and training. One of her dear nursing friends said that Betty kept them all in stitches with her humor and singing!
Betty loved spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty, affectionally known as Hoody, was famous for her homemade pies which were both beautiful and delicious, especially the sky-high meringue. Betty was a member of Community Church of Vincennes and quite involved with her church family and friends. They took many trips together with lots of laughter. You didn’t live with Tom Fausnacht without laughter as you never knew what he was going to do! Betty accompanied Tom on many speaking engagements as he presented his artwork usually the Women of the Bible and the Disciples of Christ. She served on many church boards with the Finance Committee being the longest. Betty also served on the Salvation Army board for 10 years.
A visitation for Betty will be held on Monday, June 23,2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at Community Church of Vincennes at 1:00 p.m. The burial will take place at the Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to Isaiah 117 House Knox County or Mary Martha’s (Christian Women’s group of Community Church of Vincennes). Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Betty.
