Brent Jay Perkins, 61, of Washington, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:37pm.

He was born on November 23, 1964, to Gene & Barbara (Leonard) Perkins in Washington, Indiana.

Brent was a member of the 1983 graduating class at Washington High School. On October 10, 1987, he married the love of his life, Amy (Fowler) Perkins, and they spent 38 years together happily married.

Brent was a hardworking man. He spent several years early on in his career working alongside his dad Gene at Perkins and Sons Trucking in Washington, and eventually he began working & retiring from Peabody Energy.

He attended Bethany Christian Church in Washington. In his free time, he enjoyed going bird hunting, deer hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson, camping, horseback riding, and watching his son Rowdy race dirtbikes. He had recently been building a woodshop over the past two years and had several projects he was working on. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Survivors of Brent include his wife, Amy Perkins; his son, Rowdy Perkins and his fiancée Emma Kenworthy; his parents, Gene and Barb Perkins; and his brothers, Tony Perkins and his wife Becky, and Gregg Perkins and his wife Jackie.

Visitation for Brent will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026, from 10:00am-1:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A celebration of life service will follow, beginning at 1:00pm, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Watson officiating.
