Breonica Ann Ruggles
September 22, 2010 - July 29, 2026
Breonica came into this world at 4:41 pm at Gateway Women's Center in Newburgh, Indiana, under emergent circumstances. Her parents, Derek and Brandy Ruggles and her big brothers Drew and Remington were proud to welcome the tiny 1 lb5 oz, 12 inches long sassy little girl into their family. Being so frail, she spent the first year and a half of her life hospitalized. Against the odds, she fought to be well enough to come home from Riley Children's Hospital. She brought along all the bells and whistles (aka a room full of medical equipment & medications). At home, little Sissy grew into a spunky, 80lb 5 foot 2", beautiful teenager.
In her short life, she touched so many lives. She had a way of wrapping everyone around her little pinky finger. She could make them give in to her and do what she wanted, especially her brother Remington, along with her nurses, teacher, and therapist. Even though she was never able to speak, she made her emotions and demands known. Her happy hugs, her angry hugs, the hand pushes, her smiles to her sly mischievous grins, even bending forward when she allowed you to kiss her forehead, those gestures and her facial expressions, made her point come across loud and clear. Breonica was a happy girl. She loved her cartoons. If the remote-control holder, figured out the episode of Thomas the Train, Super Wings, Pajanimals, or one of her other shows she was fond of, or if she was handed her iPad to play, what she considered the best game invented "Itsy Bitsy Spider" by Duck Duck Moose she rewarded you with her beautiful grin that lit up the room. This little lady was the center of her family's world. With daddy, she loved doing the "secret" buddy handshake he taught her. The special bond that was shared between her big bubby Remington, and his little Sweet Pea girl was like none other. They adored each other. Sweet Pea knew she had the best brother in the world. Of course, she reminded her mom who the boss of the house really was! However, she always knew when mommy needed one of her best hugs in the world.
Her family is devastated, after their world was turned upside down with Breonica's very sudden, unexpected passing at 4:38am, on July 29, 2026. She is loved and missed by all. She is survived by her parents Brandy & Derek Ruggles; brother Remington Ruggles & his girlfriend Jessie Boggs; Maternal grandmother Gayle Potts; Paternal Grandparents Kelly & John Crews; Paternal Great grandparents Donna & Paul Shidler, Aunts Ginger & husband Paul Moffett; and Savanna Crews and her boyfriend Bryan Shanes and several great aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Drew Goins; Maternal grandfather Lowell Potts; and Paternal grandfather Randy Ruggles.
