Listen to Obituary

Brian Patton, 51, of Vincennes, Indiana, peacefully left his Earthly home in the afternoon of Friday, October 30th in the presence of his family. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all. He was preceded in death and welcomed into the home of Our Lord by his father, Ralph Patton; Aunt Dee Anderson; and dear friend (“brother from another mother”), Henry Peacock. He leaves behind his devoted and loving mother, Charla Patton; dedicated sister, Angie Patton Goff, and brother-in-law, Terry Goff; his niece, Bailey Goff, and favorite dog, Sal; and an extended family that loved him deeply, wholly, and without reservation. His loved ones—most dutifully his mother and sister—were fierce advocates for Brian’s wellbeing and care, in efforts to help benefit all those who are differently abled of any age.

Brian’s life was colored with happiness, laughter, practical jokes, and an abundance of charming “Brian smiles.” He always saw people for their hearts, his presence shone in every room, and despite being non-verbal, he was more talkative than most, ready to tell stories from yesterday or years past. Brian was a pillar of the Knox County and KCARC communities, and he never met a stranger—everyone loved Brian the moment he met them. Brian was a long-term athlete for Special Olympics, and his best and favorite sport was bowling—and when he could not bowl any longer, he became the scorekeeper for his friends and teammates. Last year, he joined the Vincennes Moose Lodge #281, where he loved playing music bingo and meeting new friends. Those that cherished Brian will forever celebrate his joyous heart and endless love for a lifetime.

We welcome any and all who may have been touched by Brian’s presence to join in a celebration of his life. Memorial services with be held at St. Philip Neri Church in Bicknell, Indiana. His visitation will be on Friday, November 6th from 2PM to 7PM, and his funeral with Catholic mass will be Saturday, November 7th at 10AM celebrated by Father Caleb Scherzinger.  Lunch with family, friends, and anyone who loved Brian will be held at the St. Philip Neri Parish Hall immediately following funeral services. Online memories may be shared with Brian’s family and friends at www.goodwinsieversfh.com. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Brian and his family.
