Carlos Lyndon Phillippe, 85, of Vincennes, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on August 10, 1940, to Carlos Dewey and E. June (Preston) Phillippe.
Lyndon lived a life rooted in service—to his country, his community, and the people he cared about most. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he held in deep honor and respect.
His service to the American Red Cross became one of his greatest callings. For more than 30 years, including time spent on the Board of Directors and as Disaster Chairman, Lyndon showed up wherever he was needed—traveling across the country to help families in the aftermath of fires, earthquakes, and tornadoes. His steady presence brought comfort in moments of crisis, and for his dedication, he was named Red Cross Volunteer of the Year. He also served locally through the Emergency Management Agency, making sure his own community could count on him in times of need.
Faith was another steady foundation in Lyndon’s life. As a member of First Christian Church, he served as both a Deacon and Elder.
Lyndon had a lifelong curiosity and a remarkable mind. He graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Business Management and had a deep knowledge of computers and all things electronic. He was incredibly smart and remained sharp throughout his life, always learning, always exploring, and always eager to understand how things worked.
He found joy in sharing his interests with others. As a Scoutmaster, he mentored young people and helped shape their paths through guidance and encouragement. As an active member of the Amateur Radio Club, where he held various leadership roles, and a dedicated Ham Radio operator, he built connections far beyond his immediate circle, forming friendships that spanned miles and years.
He retired from Old National Bank after many years of dedicated work, but never truly stopped serving others.
Lyndon is survived by his daughter, Claudia (Nick) Winsett, and son, Terry Phillippe, both of Boonville; his grandchildren, Ridge Green, Lyndsey Winsett, and Lauryn Winsett; his great-granddaughter, Kennedy Green; and his niece and nephew, David Phillippe and Darcie Bahr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Phillippe.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his longtime friend, Jim France, for his unwavering friendship, care, and support over the years. His kindness made a lasting difference and will always be remembered.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Lyndon’s life at a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Lyndon will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Lyndon and his family.
