Carol and her family moved to Vincennes, Indiana in 1963. Carol was a housewife and mother until she began working in 1970 as a dietitian at Crestview Convalescent Center. Carol continued to further her education at Vincennes University, graduating in 1974 from the nursing program. Carol continued to serve her community as a registered nurse, working at Crestview in the role of Director of Nursing over the next several years. In 1983, Carol began employment at Good Samaritan Hospital and continued her service for 23 years. After her retirement, Carol worked part-time for Dr. Grace Fowler and dedicated her remaining years to raising her two great grandchildren, Ian and Ivy Jo Wilson.
Carol loved serving her community. She was active in Bible study and Vacation Bible School with her church. She participated in two mission trips to Honduras. She volunteered as a nurse for her church summer camps for several years. Carol was also an active volunteer for Hospice.
In her spare time, Carol loved to square dance, travel with her friends, and serve her community and church. She played an active role in taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her four daughters, Cassandra Carson (Jeff), Charity Frey (Norman Schwartz), Kimberly Fane (Jim), and Lynnette Klein (Bill); 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Nina Carter, husband, Charles Graham; husband, Franklyn Schroeder; sisters, Nancy and Ina; son in law, John Wilson; grandson, Justin Fane; and step son, Chuck Graham.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John United Church of Christ, 606 N. 5th St, Vincennes, Indiana 47591. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make donations in Carol's name to either a Breast Cancer or Autism charity of your choice. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Carol.
