Carole Gize

Carole A. Gize, 84, formerly of Palo Alto, California, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. She was born on February 4, 1942, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late George and Ruth Eichelberger.

Carole was a graduate of Morton High School and then attended Valparaiso University to study music, where she proudly sang as a soloist with the University's Chapel Choir. She later earned her master's degree in business from the University of San Francisco.

On August 9, 1963, Carole married the love of her life, Walter Gize. They relocated to California and shared more than six decades of marriage filled with love and adventure. Carole enjoyed a successful 25-year career as an executive with Hewlett-Packard.

She was a lifelong Presbyterian and Anglophile who enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and the sound of bagpipes, which honored her Scottish heritage. She also loved quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and playing a good game of cards.

Above all, she treasured her family and the life she built with Walter. She cherished her friends and family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and laughter.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Eichelberger; her husband, Walter Gize; her son, Walter Gregory Gize; and her sister, Georgene Gurgevich.

She is survived by her children, Erik Gize and Gretchen (Drew) Olbrich; grandchildren, Miranda and Axel Olbrich; sister, Donna (Brian) Kramer; and several extended family members and dear friends.
