Carolyn J. Dykeman, 78, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2026. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 19, 1947, to the late Warren and Lorena Dyekman and raised near Tell City on a dairy farm with her beloved animals. Carolyn attended Tell City High School and Indian State University obtaining her master's degree in elementary education with endorsement in reading and minor in sociology. She began her career in education at Tecumseh Elementary and continued at both LaSalle and Franklin Elementary Schools. Carolyn was a member of the Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church and the Fortnightly Club.
Carolyn was incredibly passionate about learning and strived to make it interesting and meaningful. Across the years she taught using learning centers and did interactive experiences in science and math along with including parent volunteers in the classroom. She enjoyed teaching and loved all her children even when they were challenging. She will be deeply missed.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Lorena Dykeman; and cousin Robert Louis.
She is survived by her caregiver, whom she thought of as a daughter, Lisa Erdosy; Lisa's children who she loved as grandchildren; cousins Jim (Gwen) Seibert, Jeff Seibert, Janel Jones, Jenny Eller, Sandy Louis, and Katherine Smith.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Ms. Dykeman. Visitation will be held March 12, 2026, from 10-11 am at 524 Broadway Street. A Celebration of Life will promptly begin at 11 am with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City, Indiana at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to Vincennes Education Fund, Vincennes Animal Shelter, or Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church.
