Cheryl Elaine Hacke passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17th at the age of 78 with her beloved daughter and son-in-law by her side. Born on December 27th, 1946, in Vincennes, Indiana, Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Randy) Suellentrop of St. Charles, MO and her aunt, Mary Sherman of Vincennes, IN. She is preceded in death by her husband, A. Fred Hacke, parents, Joseph and Martha Coomer and cousin, Jeff Arensmann.

Cheryl was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN and went on to study music at Greenville University in Greenville, IL where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education. She began her teaching career as a music teacher. During that time, she met her husband, and they settled in Bethalto, IL. After having their daughter, she taught vocal music and was later a preschool teacher assistant and Title I kindergarten teacher assistant. She retired from the East Alton, IL school district after a wonderful career in education. She truly enjoyed working with and helping children. She also spent over 10 years as the choir director of the church her family attended in Rosewood Heights, IL.

In addition to her love of teaching children, she had a passion for music, enjoyed traveling and loved animals, especially dogs. She was particularly fond of Carin Terriers which she had throughout her life. She was a loving and caring mother and spouse, who will be greatly missed. She will be laid to rest with her husband and parents in her hometown of Vincennes, IN at a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis or the Free Methodist Church of Vincennes, IN. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Cheryl.
