Daryle Ebert Riegle, a dedicated educator and beloved family man, passed away on April 22, 2026. Born on April 1, 1942, Daryle's lifelong commitment to learning and teaching left an indelible mark on Vincennes University and the many students he inspired throughout his distinguished career.
Daryle moved to Vincennes in 1957, and his roots in the community ran deep. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959 and pursued higher education with determination, earning degrees from Vincennes University, Rose Hulman, and Purdue University. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a remarkable 40-year tenure as a Professor at Vincennes University in the Division of Science, Math, and Engineering. Throughout his career, Daryle was revered not only for his expertise but also for his dedication to fostering a supportive and challenging learning environment.
Outside the classroom, Daryle was known for his passion for woodworking, a craft through which he expressed creativity and precision. His involvement with the First United Methodist Church reflected his strong faith and commitment to community service. These interests brought balance and joy to his life, enriching both himself and those around him.
Daryle is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Karen Riegle; his sons, Daryle Shawn (Wendy) Riegle and Shannon (Helen) Riegle; and his brother, Nyle (Cathy) Riegle. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Ryan (Jessica) Riegle, Logan (Rachel) Riegle, Shannon Daniel Riegle, Gracie Riegle, Melissa Riegle, Daryle Isaac Riegle, Ross Gander, and Macy Gander, who carry forward the values and spirit he imparted. The family also mourns the loss of Alexander Riegle, a cherished grandson who preceded Daryle in death.
Daryle was the son of Ebert and Norma Riegle, both of whom have passed on. Their influence and support were fundamental in shaping the man who became a pillar of his community and a beacon of knowledge and kindness.
As we reflect on Daryle Ebert Riegle's life, we honor a man whose dedication to education, faith, family, and craftsmanship left a lasting legacy. His contributions have shaped countless lives and will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who knew him.
