Deborah Junette Palmer was born on November 4, 1948 in Birmingham, AL to Clarice Jean Bledsoe Palmer and Glenn Maurice Palmer. She went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie, as she was lovingly known by, worked as a social worker for Knox County for several years, including as the Social Services director at Gentlecare Nursing Home before going to work as the office manager at William Family Chiropractic for nearly 30 years from which she retired. She was also an interim foster parent and impacted the lives of several children over the years. She enjoyed crafting and decorating, a talent that she has passed on to her daughter . Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she went all out with her decorations and would start shopping at the beginning of the year and shop all year long to prepare. Her family was her greatest joy and she enjoyed cooking large Sunday dinners every single week for family dinner right up until the time that she was no longer able to do so. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Debbie spent her life serving her Lord, Jesus Christ, and was always looking for ways to serve and help others no mater if it meant that she had to go without.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clarice "Jean" Palmer, father, Glenn Maurice Palmer, sister Patty Hays, and brother, William "Bill" Palmer.
Survivors include her husband of twenty eight years, William "Bill" Langford, son, Mike Updike (Shelley), daughter, Michelle Gooch (DV), step-son Todd Langford, grandchildren Meagan Walk (Josh), Branden Updike (Autumn), Kiersten Updike, Brianna Updike (Kameron), Savannah Updike (Jeremiah), Christian Updike, Jordyn Voltz (Amanda), Rheagan Voltz, Mackynzee Hicks (Garrett), and 18 great grandchildren.
