It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Lilly Clauss, 90, better known as Dottie, who departed this life on December 3, 2025. Dottie was born on March 8, 1935, in Vincennes, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Lilly) Ueding. She married Robert "Whitey" Clauss on May 15, 1958, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2014.

Dottie was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and enjoyed skiing in her younger years, was an enthusiastic reader, and an exceptional cook and baker. She was particularly fond of the card club she founded with her dear friends from high school, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air, reminding everyone of the deep connections forged through shared experiences. Above all, Dorothy treasured the time spent with her brothers and sisters, proving that family was the cornerstone of her life. Countless hours spent playing cards brought them closer, creating new memories as well as reminiscing of days gone by.

Survivors include her children, Jane Russell and her husband Jim of Vincennes, Judy Johnson and her husband Jim of Salem, IN, David Clauss and his wife Leslie of Nashville, IN; her siblings, David Ueding, Connie Grabel, Kathy Frye; grandchildren, Andrew Russell, Matthew Russell, Emily Johnson, Michael Russell, A.J. Johnson, Ellen Clark, Brian Clauss, Jack Clauss and seven great grandchildren. Dottie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Ueding, siblings, Johnny Ueding, Mary Ann Ruppel, Darlene Smith, Karen Cooper and her husband Robert "Whitey" Clauss.
