It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Edith Benton, who peacefully left this world on June 15, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 3, 1939, in Vincennes, Indiana, Edith was a treasured member of her community and an unwavering source of love for those who knew her.

Edith dedicated her life to caring for children, which brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her warmth extended to her furry companions, her cherished dachshund dogs, who were always by her side. Known for her vibrant spirit, Edith loved cookouts, being outdoors and creating lasting memories with her family, instilling in them the importance of togetherness and love.

A devoted member of the Salvation Army, Edith was deeply committed to serving others, sharing her kindness and generosity with those in need. Her unwavering faith and compassion touched many lives, leaving a legacy that will be remembered by all who encountered her.

Edith is survived by her beloved nieces, Carol Hendrixson and Patricia Walls, ; great nieces and nephews, Brandy Stone and husband Bobby, Rachel Evans, JP Brackin; great-great nieces and nephews, Bobby Jr., Brycestone, Lawaustin, Skyler, Bentley, Bristol, Kindyl Vinson and Carl Brackin who will forever carry her memory in her heart.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Orval J. and Elise C. Hedge; sister, Jackaline Walls; nieces and nephews, Jeff Walls and Stephen Walls.

In honor of Edith's remarkable life and the love she shared, a celebration of her life will be held at at a later date. Family and friends will be invited to join in remembrance and to pay tribute to Edith's extraordinary spirit, celebrating the moments that defined her and the love she spread throughout her life.
