Elaine K. Leidy

Elaine Leidy, 104, of Washington, Indiana formerly of Niles, Michigan, passed away with family by her side of May 5th, 2025. She was born to the late Theodore and Hattie (Griechen) Fender in Niles, Michigan on April 25, 1921. She attended Niles High School and graduated in 1938. Elaine married the love of her life Fred Leidy on April 25, 1942. She proudly worked for many years as the head secretary for the Berrien County Courthouse. Elaine was a devoted member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles and was known for being the sweetest and always having a smile on her face. In her early years, she and Fred enjoyed spending time with their friends the "gang", flower gardening, spending time with family, and traveling to Sebring, Florida in the winter. In later years, Elaine loved watching the Lutheran channel every Sunday morning, crafting and was an avid bingo player. She will be deeply missed.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Hattie Fender; husband Fred Leidy; son Fredric "Ric" (Sandy) Leidy; and brothers Richard and Eugene Fender.

She is survived by her daughter Sue Scherr; grandchildren Joseph Dutoi, Christopher (Julie) Dutoi, Jaime (Steven) Halter, Jeffery (Melissa) Leidy; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and extended family.

Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Leidy. Services will be held at a later date in Michigan.
