Emily Bottoms

Emily Ruth Bottoms, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at Prairie Village Nursing Home at the age of 64. Born on May 27, 1961, in Evansville, IN, she was the cherished daughter of Charles and Helen Bourland. Emily dedicated her life to her family, tirelessly supporting her loved ones with an unwavering spirit and a compassionate heart.

A devoted homemaker, Emily took immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She found solace in reading her Bible and relished the beauty of nature, often spending time watching birds and butterflies grace her window. Alongside her husband, Paul D. Bottoms, who preceded her in death, Emily was an active member of Wilson Creek Baptist Church, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many in her community.

Emily is survived by her daughter, April Taylor, and her husband, Aron. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren—Sierra, Alexis, Tyler, Aaron, Hunter, and Colton Taylor; Christian Bottoms; Dalton and Shanandoa Hardy; and Morgan Staley and Kenneth Robbins. Her great-grandchildren—Bentley, Oliver, Korbin, Octavia, and Emberlynn—will forever carry the warmth of her spirit.

Emily is also survived by her three sisters, Florence Acevedo of Washington, Jackie Riordan of Clarksville, TN, and Marie Lockyer of Newburg, IN, as well as her brother, Charles "Junior" Bourland of Edmond, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Anthony and Larry Sims. Emily was preceded in death by: Paul Bottoms, Charles Bourland, Helen Bourland.

We will celebrate Emily’s life and the loving memories she has given us during the funeral service to be held on August 5, 2025, at Wilson Creek Cemetery near Monroe City, IN. A public viewing will take place at 1:30 PM, followed by the graveside service at 2:00 PM all at the cemetery.
