Gary Dean Cazzell, passed away on April 11th, 2026, at the age of nearly 89. Gary was born on April 22, 1937, to Hester and Earl Cazzell in Vincennes, Indiana, the town he called home for his entire life. He was married to his wife, Marilyn, for 67 years. She passed away a year and a half earlier. They had three sons - Greg, Keith, and Alan.
Gary was an outgoing, strong, and kindhearted man who appreciated the value of laughter. While he treasured the longtime friends he had accumulated throughout his life, he always looked for ways to reach out and make new connections with people around him both young and old.
Gary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 18, 1951. For decades, he served as a hardworking elder in the Vincennes congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He deeply valued his relationship with Jehovah God, and his hope to live in the future Paradise Earth. He cherished studying the Bible and he strived hard to live his life based on the principles found in it. Both he and Marilyn raised their three boys to reflect Christian values.
Gary and Marilyn both had the privilege of teaching many other people the truths found in God’s Word. He was constantly looking for opportunities to share his faith with others. He also took every chance he could to volunteer in the work of building and remodeling Kingdom Halls. For many years, Gary played a large role in organizing and constructing many Kingdom Halls throughout the state. It was something very dear to his heart.
Gary provided for his family by operating his own carpentry business, with the help of Marilyn and his boys. He worked alongside his sons and taught them the skills they would use throughout their lives, especially the value of hard work and persistence.
He and Marilyn loved the outdoors, and they spent countless hours with their family, hiking at state parks or fishing the lakes. These times were perfect opportunities to reflect on the wisdom and beauty of Creation. Gary also loved golfing with his sons and grandson.
Gary will be profoundly missed by all of us who loved him. He was a truly devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a wonderful father. He will always be alive in our hearts, as we wait patiently to see him again.
He is survived by his three boys, Greg, Keith, and Alan; his daughters in-law, Terri and Mandy; his brothers, Roger and Mike; his nieces, Tamera Bolmer and Julie Tubby; his nephews, Michael and Chad; his grandchildren, Jeremy Cazzell, Steven Martinez, and Amy Letts; and his great grandchildren, Ellie Rose, Addison, and Kinsley Rea.
Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes. A service for Gary will follow at 1pm. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Gary and his family.
