Hilda Loraine (Marcum) Engleman, 88, of Plainville, Indiana, passed away at her residence in Plainville on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

She was born on February 13, 1938, in Crawford County, Indiana, to the late Ethel (Wright) Marcum and Bolin Marcum.

Hilda attended Milltown High School in Milltown, Indiana. On June 11, 1955, she married the love of her life, Carl Engleman, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2020, after 64 years shared. Together, they had two children, Bryan and Carl.

Hilda was a homemaker for many years, making sure the household was well cared for and running smoothly. She was a member of the Cornettsville Community Church, and a member of the Epsom Homemakers Club. Hilda loved gardening, collecting antiques, attending yard sales, and having fun with her friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors of Hilda include her children, Bryan Engleman and his wife Misha of Plainville, IN, and Carl Lynn Engleman and his wife Wendy of Blairsville, GA; her grandchildren, Gregory Engleman, Annie Engleman, Susan Stafford, Kim Engleman, Josh Engleman, Amanda Engleman, C.J. Engleman, and Jonathan Engleman; her step-grandchildren, Michael Newell, and Victoria Newell; her eight great-grandchildren; her three step-great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters-in-law, Marcia Wright and Nellie Engleman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Engleman; her parents, Bolin and Ethel; and her brother, Curtis Wright.

Visitation for Hilda will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 10:00am-12:00pm ET, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm with Pastor Gwen Durkee officiating. Following the service, Hilda will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl at Cornettsville Cemetery.
