James William “Bill” Jones III, 76, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 26, 1949, in Washington, Indiana, the son of James William and Mildred Ann (Sullivan) Jones, Jr. He graduated high school from Fritchton, Indiana in 1967. Bill married June Thurston on August 17, 1968, and together they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage centered on their family.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his family, who meant the world to him. He dedicated thirty-four years of service to Pepsi and took great pride in collecting Pepsi memorabilia. In his free time, Bill enjoyed watching westerns, especially any movie starring John Wayne. He was a past president of the Daviess County Masonic Lodge and when able, enjoyed participating in the Shriners Motor Patrol, where he could often be seen driving one of the miniature cars in area parades. Bill was also a member of the Indiana Presbyterian Church in Vincennes, Indiana. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Bill will be remembered by his loving wife, June Jones; son, James “Criss” Jones and wife, Jana; daughter, Betsy Ann Jones; grandchildren, Zachary Todd Easterday, Courtney Jordan Easterday, Braydon Christopher Jones, Evelyn Kaye Jones, and Ellyann Marie Jones; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bruce Jones and Steve Jones.

The family is greatly appreciative of Chase Keepes and Keepes Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL for their compassionate care of Bill and his family.
