Jerald Lee Schuetz, 83 of Washington IN passed away in his home with the view of his birds in his yard that he took great pride in, surrounded by his 3 children. Jerry was born and raised in Washington IN, born to NH "Dutch" and Helen Schuetz (Adams). Jerry was happily married to the love of his life Joyce (Copple) on September 14, 1964.

Jerry was very accomplished from a child to his adult years playing vital roles with the youth and in the community. As a young boy, Jerry was active in soap box derby racing, making his own car alongside his father; Jerry won several championships and was featured in several newspapers. Jerry accomplished as a young man becoming an Eagle Scout, achieving the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts; only 4-6% scouts are able to obtain and achieve this rank. Jerry was in the Daviess County 4-H; showing Hereford calves that he helped raised alongside his father. As an adult, Jerry helped lead 4-H groups in Montgomery; coached and mentored many young boys in football and life by coaching pee wee football.

Jerry, alongside his father was owner and Operator of Fairview Farms, later being able to share the love of farming with his family. Fairview Farms raised Herford Cattle, typically having over 200 head and at one point having as many as 500 head, while farming over 1500 acers of farmland. Jerry was an extremely hard worker and provider for his family working in the coal mines from 1982 until retirement also while farming. After graduating from Washington High School in 1960, Jerry was drafted, serving 2 years in the US Army. Jerry was a member of the Glendale Masonic Lodge 461; Shriners; Southwest Indiana Bass Club; 20th Century Chevy Car Club, American Legion and active member of Bethany Chrisitan Church.

Jerry proudly served as Daviess County Commissioner for 12 years striving to make Daviess County a better place to live and raise families.

Jerry enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, attending as many NASCAR and/or watching them faithfully every weekend; Jerry also enjoyed spending time with all of his family and lifelong friends, in later years when Jerry was no longer able to tinker out in his shop, he would always tell family he was making assholes for hobby horses but unfortunately never fulfilling orders.

Jerry was proceeded in his death by his wife Joyce, grandson Nathan Schuetz, his parents Dutch and Helen Schuetz as well as Sonny Copple (BIL), Bill Copple (BIL), Ann Strange (SIL), Kay Macy (SIL).

Jerry is survived by his 3 children: son Jarrett Schuetz of Washington, daughter Jan Johnson (Daniel) of Navarre FL and daughter Joy Milligan-Schuetz (Boogie) of Washington. Jerry is survived by 6 grandchildren: Nick Schuetz (Heather) of Loogootee; Lane Stamper of Indianapolis; Landon Stamper of Boonville; Mercedes Stamper of Crestview, FL; Blaze Schuetz of Evansville and Lynlee Schuetz of Washington. Jerry is also survived by his 2 great grandsons Eli and Issac Schuetz (Nick and Heather). Jerry is survived by his twin sister Judy Robinson (Mel) and Renee (Gary) Hamilton (SIL), Coleen Copple (SIL), Donnie Strange BIL and many treasured niece and nephews.

Celebration of life will be held at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral home on Saturday May 30, 2026, officiated by Matt Merold and Tom Watson of Bethany Chrisitan Church. Visitation with family 10:30a-12:00p with service and military rights to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Jerry would be honored for donations to St. Jude Hospital or Heart to Heart Hospice of Jasper IN.
