With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry R. Coonrod, who left this world peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 87. Jerry was born on September 8, 1938, in Vincennes the son of James Robert "Tick" and Mary Frances (Leech) Coonrod. He married Georgianna Johnson on April 22, 1967.

For over forty years, Jerry served as Chief Industrial Engineer at Johnson Controls, where his dedication and expertise set a standard of excellence that inspired many. He also served his country in Army Reserve. Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was passionate about giving back to his community. He was a co-founder and the current President of KCARC and the past President of the Monroe City Blue Jean Center, both of which have had a lasting impact on the lives of many families.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church, Jerry found strength and purpose in his faith, contributing both time and service to the church community. His connections extended beyond the church as he served as a member in the Monroe City Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and the Harmony Society. In recognition of his unwavering commitment to community service, Jerry was honored with The Spirit of '76 Award, a testament to his dedication to enhancing the lives of those around him.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Georgianna Coonrod, his daughters, Angela Coonrod and Andrea Coonrod both of Nashville, TN, and his son Eric Coonrod. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert "Tick" and Mary Frances Coonrod, his son, Mark Coonrod and his brother Jan Michael Coonrod.

Friends may visit with Jerry's family on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Jerry will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Online memories may be shared with Jerry's family and friends at www.goodwinsieversfh.com. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged honored to be entrusted with the care of Jerry and his family. The Coonrod family has requested donations be made to KCARC in lieu of flowers.
