John E. Mulroony, 78, of Washington, Indiana passed away on October 15, 2025. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on November 15, 1946 to the late James and Bethel Mulroony. John attended high school at St. Mary's College in St. Mary, Kentucky, graduating in 1964 and continued there for 2 years in their college program. John then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era as a military police officer. He received an Army Commendation Medal for valor during service. After his return from Vietnam he enrolled in Ball State University and graduated with a B.A. He later continued his studies doing post-graduate work. John was employed by the Indiana Department of Corrections. During his career he served in numerous facilities and capacities, retiring from the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility as Assistant Superintendent. In 2023 he was inducted into the IDOC Hall of Honor. John was an accomplished artist and member of the Vincennes Art Guild. He was also a talented musician and performed for a number of years at the Cherry Ghost Coffee Shop. He hosted many music events at his home. John enjoyed his organic garden, travel and outdoor adventures including back packing trips in the High Sierras with his friends and sons.

John's family includes his wife of 29 years Marsha (McRoberts) Mulroony; sons Sean Mulroony, Kevin Mulroony, and Chris McRoberts; 7 grandchildren; and siblings Mike Mulroony, Jim Mulroony, Caroline Grimme, and Kathy Vivian. He also considered his longtime friend Richard Langdon part of his family.

Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of John. There will be no remembrance services at this time.
