John Stivers

John A. Stivers, 60 of 1356 South Brokage Ave., Vincennes, passed away at 6:56 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital.He was born August 5, 1952 in Oakland City to Alvin and Sarah (Dunn) White.John was the head housekeeper at the Super 8 Hotel in Vincennes and retired after 20 years of service in the National Guard. He loved pitching horseshoes and riding his harley "mower".Surviving is his wife Patsy (Hatfield) Stivers, whom he married August 3, 1974, his children, Dora Stivers, John Stivers, and Tessa Stivers, all of Vincennes; a brother Donald White of Vincennes; a sister, Sue Wagoner of Decker, and a grandchild on the way.Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Pete White officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until the service time. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the choice of the donor.
