Karen Rose (Hembree) Schnarr-Wade, 82, of Washington, Indiana, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of November 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on September 4, 1944, to the late Ernest B. & Dorothy I. Hembree, at home in Rutherford Township, Martin County, Indiana.

Karen attended Loogootee High School and was a member of the 1962 graduating class. Following high school, she married James D. Schnarr on November 3, 1962, and they shared over 47 years before his passing on June 29, 2010. Together they had three children, Kristina, Melanie & Jamie.

Karen spent most of her working years as the Secretary of her and James’s business, Glendale Auto Parts. She also worked at the 3D Plaza and for a factory in Jasper for a short time. On April 16, 2021, Karen found love again and married Thomas Wade of Washington.

She was a member of the Faithway Baptist Church in Washington, and she was active in church. Her church family meant a lot to her. Karen loved to sing, and she had a beautiful voice. She also enjoyed driving around through the country with Tom and enjoying the scenery.

Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, James D. Schnarr; her parents, Ernst B. & Dorothy I. Hembree; her daughter, Kristina Jo Schnarr; and her siblings, Doris Jean Baker, Ernest Hembree Jr., Louise Dyal, Linda Fleck and Denny Hembree.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Wade; her children, Melanie Schnarr and Jamie Schnarr; stepchildren, Daniel Wade and his wife DeAnn, David Wade and his wife Gala; and Jason Wade and his significant other Jasmin Allen; her grandchildren, Nicole Barber and Gage Schnarr; one great-granddaughter, Kimber Traylor; her siblings, Ruth Kidwell, JoAnn Kluesner, Herbert Hembree, Chester Hembree, Kenny Hembree, Brenda Marks, Mark Hembree, Cheryl Sult, David Hembree; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
