Kathryn "Katie" Myers, a devoted schoolteacher and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on December 22, 1937, Katie devoted her life to the pursuit of education and the betterment of those around her. Her dedication and passion for teaching left an indelible mark on countless students, as she tirelessly imparted the importance of learning and knowledge throughout her career.
A proud graduate of Indiana University, Katie not only excelled academically but carried the lessons learned there into every aspect of her work and life. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom, as evidenced by her active membership in the Washington Rotary Club, where she was known for her unwavering dedication to service and community improvement, and was also one of the first women members. Katie also had a love for gardening and was a member of Washington Arts & Flowers Garden Club.
Katie’s family remembers her as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister whose warmth and kindness touched their lives deeply. She is survived by her son, Keith (Natalie) Myers, and her beloved grandchildren, Brittany Myers, Morgan Myers, Stacy Marshall, and Chance Adams. Their lives are enriched by her memory and the legacy she leaves behind. Those who have passed before her include her daughter, Dana Adams, and her sister, Karen Phillips.
Friends and family will gather to honor Katie’s memory at the Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home in Washington, Indiana. A visitation will be held on May 18, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, providing an opportunity for those who knew her to pay their respects and share memories. The funeral service will follow on May 19, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at the same location, 2020 State Street.
Katie's life exemplified the true meaning of dedication, compassion, and community spirit. Her contributions as an educator and civic participant have left a lasting impact that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In honoring her memory, we remember a woman who truly valued education and community, living a life of service and love that will forever be cherished.
