Kenneth Ray Owens, 83, passed away on May 8, 2026, at Gentlecare Nursing Home in Vincennes, Indiana at 9:05am.

He was born on October 22, 1942, to the late Jim Owens Sr and Maxine Owens, in Vincennes, Indiana.

Kenny called Vincennes home for his entire life. He used to love to play basketball, softball, and bowling when he was younger. He attended Lincoln High School and was a member of the 1960 graduating class. Following high school, he went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Navy, where he served for four years. Following his service, he returned home to Vincennes and began his career at PepsiCo in Vincennes.

On June 12, 1982, Kenny married the love of his life, Jerrie (Griggs) Owens, and they shared nearly 44 years together.

Kenny spent his career employed at PepsiCo. First, he worked as a delivery route driver, and eventually he worked as a store merchandiser, guaranteeing stores had the items they desired and that the displays were set up well. He retired from PepsiCo after 52 years. After his retirement, he worked part time for them, training new employees. He did this for eight years, and afterwards he began driving a shuttle car for Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

In his older years, Kenny developed a love for NASCAR, and he shared that love with his best friend, and brother-in-law, Jerry Goff. They attended many races together, most notably the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400. He also enjoyed going out and playing a round of golf and working outside in his yard. Kenny liked a good western movie and didn’t miss many Wheel of Fortune episodes. He especially enjoyed going out in the morning to get a cup of coffee and driving around sightseeing in Knox County. He was a member of the Lawrenceville VFW, the American Legion in Vincennes, and the Forty & Eight. Kenny also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Kenny’s most cherished thing in life was his family. He used to enjoy going on bike rides with his kids when they were young and going to grab some biscuits and gravy. Kenny also enjoyed having family gatherings and cook-outs. He loved to be a papa, and it was well known that he couldn’t say no to any of his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Maxine; his brothers, Jim Owens Jr., and Chuck Owens; and his sister, Marietta McCrary.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Jerrie Owens; his children, Jeremy Griggs and his wife Dawn, Jessica McBroom and her husband Ben; his grandchildren, Hayden McBroom, Colten McBroom, Kyle Hendrixson, Carter Hendrixson, and Connor Hendrixson; his great-grandson, Burkley Hendrixson; his brother, David Owens; his sister-in-law, Linda Owens; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Kenny will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN 47591. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes. The family would like to give a thank you to Gentlecare Nursing Home for their kindness, respect, and care they have shown to Kenny and the family during this time.
