Our sweet Mom, treasured sister, beloved wife and #1 Grandma, Malinda Ellen Fish age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Malinda was born December 28, 1940 in Oolitic, Indiana to Dwight Moody and Flora Lucas Jones, the youngest of 3 sisters. She went to Oolotic High School where she was a majorette, and Homecoming Queen, as well as involved in many academic activities. In 1962 she moved to Vincennes, and this community became her lifelong home. She was an active member of the Free Methodist and Foursquare Churches where she met lifelong friends and surrounded herself, and her children, with people who loved The Lord. She made a long-lasting generational impact in her family, especially to her children and grandchildren, as a role model to love The Lord and to show kindness and unconditional love to others.
Later in life God blessed her by introducing her to a man who loved The Lord, and in 1983 Malinda married Lester "Paul" Fish & they began attending the First Church of the Nazarene. Paul & Malinda enjoyed traveling together for many years & especially enjoyed their drives to Colorado, California & Michigan. They stood by each other's side through thick and thin, sickness and health, caring for one another the rest of her life, celebrating 42 years of marriage this year.
Malinda was a kind soul who always saw the best in everyone. She touched the lives of many during her years working at Gates Bridal Shop where she built some precious friendships. Malinda's flower gardens brought her great joy & she had a green thumb just like her Mom. She was an enthusiastic dog lover & through most of her life she had at least one furry companion. She enjoyed baking, editing photography, and watching sports with Paul.
Above all, Malinda was devoted to her family, and loved them dearly. Her face lit up when any of her family members visited. Whether kids, grandkids, great grandkids, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews; she treasured her family. They brought her smiles until the very end, loving her always. Her husband Paul stood by her side and took on the role of caregiver over the past year making sure she could enjoy her life in their home.
Malinda's warmth, love, and kindness will be forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her, and for those in her family, her genuine unconditional love for others will be carried on as her legacy.
