Margaret Ann Caroline (Wuepper) Cannon, 90, passed away in Washington, Indiana, on July 27, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on July 24, 1935, in Del Ray Beach, Florida, to Rudolph Henry and Juanita (Lashley) Wuepper who predecease her. In her early years, she moved with her family to Washington where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Maggie (as she preferred to be called) graduated from Washington High School in 1953 and went on to work at Daviess Community Hospital until she retired after more than 30 years of service. She was very well known for the care and love that she gave to her patients as she truly had a passion for taking care of people. On April 21, 1956, she married George L. Cannon and was his loving wife until his passing in 1980. Their union produced four children, all of whom survive and mourn the loss of their mother. They are David (Tana) Cannon of Madisonville, KY, Dennis Cannon of Washington, Rebecca (Steve) Owen of Tell City, Indiana, and Beth (Greg) Mason of Washington. Grandchildren include David Cannon, Jr. (Carmen), Bradley Belcher, Sara Cannon Voges (Jason), Kaitlyn Cross (Justin), and Jared Mason (Ashley). Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, and siblings John (Wanda) Wuepper and Kathleen Skomp. Also preceding her in death was her faithful companion, Dr. Max Sheehey.

Maggie loved playing Bingo and was an avid card player with Hand and Foot being her favorite game. Many Friday afternoons were spent playing with her group of close friends. But, probably her greatest talent was her crocheting. Every family member was gifted with beautiful afghans which will be treasured forever. Also, she was a member of the RSVP Crochet Club where she made many baby blankets, booties, and hats for newborns at the hospital. She was a fantastic homemaker and cook and loved making her family their favorite foods. She was a kind person, friendly to everyone, and loved to make people laugh. In her older years, she enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with her neighbors.

Maggie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, although she attended First Mount Olive Baptist Church and First Baptist Church for many years with her husband.

She will be terribly missed by those who loved her, but her family will never forget what a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister she was.

Visitation will be held at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Washington, Indiana, on Friday, August 1, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. EST. The service will begin at 1:00 following visitation also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Mom during her final months with special thanks going to Diane Lengacher and Betty Hall.

Donations in memory of Maggie may be made to the charity of your choice.
