Marilyn Joyce (Breagle) Burgess, 88, of Washington, Indiana, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on December 21, 2025, at her residence in Washington.

She was born on November 15, 1937, to the late John Albert & Helen Lucile (McHenry) Breagle in Flora, Illinois.

Marilyn was a member of the Flora High School graduating class of 1955. Following high school, she married the love of her life, Clarence “C.V.” Burgess, and they spent over 60 years together before he preceded her in passing on February 5, 2021. Together they had one daughter, Kim.

Marilyn was a vibrant member of the Antioch Bible Church, where she found joy and connection with her faith community. Her passion for life was further exemplified through her active participation in various groups, including the Garden Club, Book Club, Sorority, and the Eastern Star. Marilyn’s enthusiasm for life extended beyond these organizations to her love for golf—a sport she enjoyed with fervor and camaraderie. She also nurtured a creative spirit through her passion for ceramics, often sharing her creations with family and friends. Above all, Marilyn was devoted to her family, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and community and will be carried forward by those she has touched.

Survivors of Marilyn include her daughter, Kim Talbert; her grandchildren, Steven (Sara) Neukam, and Tayler Talbert; her great-grandchildren, Baylee (Adam) Gordon, Gage Neukam, Ian Neukam, Keionnah (Desahun Price) Elliott, Alora Burroughs, and Zion Burroughs, and her great-great-grandchildren, Oakley Gordon, Asher Gordon, and Grayson Price.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, C.V. Burgess, her granddaughter, Nikkie Neukam; her parents, Albert and Helen Breagle; and her siblings, Clifford Thomas McKinney, Betty Alvarez, and Dorothy Lustig.

Private services for Marilyn will be held, and a celebration of life for her will be announced later in the year during warmer weather. Online condolences may be shared at goodwinsieversfh.com. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Marilyn and her family.
