Marshall Thomas

Marshall E. Thomas, 67, of Vincennes, passed away at 5:57 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 16, 1943, in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Charles Clifford and Nellie Helene (Fairfield) Thomas.Marshall retired from UPS as a delivery driver after 35 years of service. He currently worked part-time as an AFLAC agent. He was a member of Christ Community Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities. His wife, children and grandchildren were his life.Survivors include his wife, Bev (Stephens) Thomas, whom he married on July 20, 1963, of Vincennes; daughter, Cindy Swan and her husband, Danny, of Monroe City; sons, Charlie Thomas and his wife, Janet, of Vincennes and Greg Thomas of Chicago, IL; brother, Wayne Thomas and his wife, Esther, of Springfield, IL and grandchildren, Meagan Swan, Branden Updike, Kiersten Updike, Zach Thomas and Leah Thomas.Preceding Marshall in death were his parents.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., with Pastor Ron Fellows officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Christ Community Church.
