With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marsue Ann Carpenter, who left this world peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 6, 1941, in Newberry, IN she is the daughter of Frank and Marjorie (Wilkin) Reed. She married C. Richard Carpenter on June 6, 1959, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1999.
Marsue dedicated many years of her life as a production worker at Gemtron, where her hard work and dedication were recognized and appreciated by her colleagues. She was a cherished member of the First Church of God, where she found joy in community and fellowship. Marsue had a special talent for sending thoughtful greeting cards to family and friends, a testament to her caring nature and her desire to keep loved ones connected. In her quiet way, she filled the lives of those around her with love and warmth. Her greatest joy however, came from being at home and spending precious moments with her family, sharing laughter and love.
Survivors include her children, Julie Bono of Franklin, IN, Rick Carpenter and his wife Regina of Vincennes, IN; her brothers, Donald Reed and his wife Bobbie of Linton, IN, Butch Reed and his wife Martha of Elnora, IN; her grandchildren, Jamie Carpenter (Brad), Bryan Carpenter, Jordan Carpenter (Ashley), Jeremy Carpenter (Mykala), Ryan Cazel (Steph), Nick Cazel, Jared Elser (Cassie); and seventeen great grandchildren. Marsue is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marjorie Reed, husband, C. Richard Carpenter, daughter, Catherine Carpenter, grandson, Matt Cazel, and her great grandson, Kristopher Carpenter.
In honor of Marsue's life, a funeral service will be held at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes on January 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Will Huebner officiating. Prior to the service, there will be a public viewing from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. Marsue will be laid to rest next to her husband Richard and her daughter Catherine in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Carpenter family has requested memorial contributions be made in Marsue's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriners Children Hospital or First Church of God in Vincennes.
