Mary Olive Griesemer, born on May 17, 1932, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith. Throughout her ninety-four years, Mary touched the lives of those around her with warmth, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Mary was the cherished daughter of Robert and Ethel Dellinger, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry Griesemer, and her sister, Joy Ready. Mary's memory will endure through the loving family she leaves behind: her daughter Mary Sue (Brian) McCall; her son Bob Griesemer; her grandchildren David (Jessica) McCall, Sarah Beth (Joshua) Harlan, Suzanne, Jennifer, and Crystal; her great-grandchildren Gracie Harlan, Nolan Harlan, and Charlotte McCall; and her nieces Joy Neighbors and Heather Hartzburg. She was also blessed with 8 additional great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Each of them was deeply loved by Mary and carries forward the values and affection she so readily gave.
Mary's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Few things brought her as much happiness as sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom with those she cherished most. She was also known among family and friends for her exceptional skill in the kitchen. Her delicious chicken & noodles, meatloaf, and homemade pies became treasured dishes at every family gathering, lovingly remembered and frequently requested by those fortunate enough to taste them.
Her care and compassion extended well beyond her family. Mary devoted herself as a sitter for the elderly, offering not only her time but also her companionship and gentle spirit to those in need. A faithful member of the Free United Methodist Church in Vincennes, she served her congregation as a layspeaker, sharing her faith and encouragement with all she met. Mary's creativity and sense of humor shone through her participation in clown ministry during Vacation Bible School, bringing smiles to countless children.
Mary cultivated a variety of interests that enriched her life. She loved to read and found joy in sharing books and stories. Alongside her husband Jerry, she enjoyed travelling-relishing the adventures and memories made together. She was also an avid observer of nature, particularly delighting in watching eagles, whose grace and majesty inspired her. Mary's life was also brightened by the companionship of her beloved Boston Terrier, Skipper (also known affectionately as Skippy), who held a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Mary will remember her as a woman of deep faith, warmth, and strength. Her selflessness and dedication to family and community serve as a lasting example to those she leaves behind.
