Merna Kay Claycomb passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 84 surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She created a life centered around love and family. Merna found the most joy when she was supporting her husband and sons while they were racing, attending all of her grandchildren's events and spending time with her grandkids doing puzzles, playing cards or sharing her secret recipes. Merna took great pride in creating traditions like gathering around her table for family dinners and filling every card with $2 bills.
Above all else, Merna was most proud of the family that she created with her husband Dan over the last 65 years. They showed their family what true love really looks like: not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, everyday ones. In the way they stood by each other, supported one another, and built a life rooted in trust and devotion. Their love is a legacy that will live on through every generation they touched.
Merna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Dan Claycomb,Sr.; her children Brent (Lana) Claycomb and Janice (Randy) Stafford; her grandchildren, Alicia (Mark) Bezy, Arielle (Tyler) Harris, Clint (Leah) Richter, Kari (Joe) Bedwell, Dr. Cole (Allyson) Claycomb, Danielle (JR) Carter and Randy (Courtney) Stafford. She also leaves behind 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Claycomb, Jr; her parents, Orlan and Ethel Dreiman; and her brother, Carl Dreiman.
Merna will be remembered for her love, strength and the deep pride she had in her family. Her legacy will live on through all who knew and loved her.
