Nancy Ruth (Foster) Singleton, 83, of Washington, IN, passed away at her residence in Washington in the early morning of Sunday, July 5, 2026.
Nancy was born on February 6, 1943, to the late Dwayne & Norma Jean (King) Foster, in Washington, IN. She spent her childhood and adolescence growing up in Washington, was a member of the 1961 graduating class at Washington High School.
Following high school, Nancy married the love of her life, William Singleton, on September 22, 1961, and they shared over 64 years together.
Nancy & William spent over 7 years living on Air Force bases together before relocating back to Washington. Upon returning, Nancy worked as a cashier for Arnolds Red & White and JayC Food store in Washington up until her retirement. She also sewed for professional women in town throughout the years and was a board member of the Washington Trustees Office.
Family and friends were deeply important to Nancy. In her free time, she enjoyed camping with her husband, doing various activities with her grandchildren, sewing, and quilting. Nancy also enjoyed hosting family holidays and hanging out with “The Girls”.
Survivors include her husband of over 64 years, William Singleton; her twin sister, Sally Maden and her husband Franklin, her children, Mary Katherine Purdue and her husband Bill, Tammy Sorensen and her husband Leo, and Mark Singleton and his wife Jayne; her grandchildren, Amanda Hill and her husband Robert, Vanessa Sciotti and her husband Anthony, Shelby Towery, Alex Towery and his wife Haily, Toby Singleton, Erin Singleton, Emily Singleton, and Maddie Singleton; her great-grandchildren, Elaina Hill, Elijah Towery, and Josie Towery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwayne & Norma Jean.
Visitation for Nancy will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 2:00-4:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 4:00pm. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Reeve Township Cemetery.
