Peggy Lou Hensley

Peggy L. Hensley, 86, of Owensville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in the loving care of her granddaughter, Lauren Hensley. She was born on December 15, 1938, in Johnson, IN, to the late Ermal Lee and Jesse LaMadge (Beloat) Dike. 

Peggy graduated from Owensville High School and, soon after, married the love of her life, Roy Hensley, on June 24, 1956. Together they built a beautiful life and welcomed two sons, Roy Lee and Ricky, whom she cherished deeply. In the 1970s, Peggy opened and operated her own dress shop, Peg’s Fashions, in Owensville. Later, she worked for Fifth Third Bank, where she “floated” between branches throughout Gibson County. Peggy thrived in this role, happily living out her social-butterfly nature. She also dedicated time to her community, volunteering often and serving as a proud member of the Owensville Eastern Star. Peggy and Roy shared a love of golf, enjoying countless rounds together with family and friends. Above all, Peggy adored her family—especially her three granddaughters, who were her pride and joy. She never met a stranger, carried sunshine wherever she went, and touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Roy; her brothers, Kenneth and John C. Dike; her sister, Patty Fletcher; and sisters-in-law Karen Dike and Pauline Crawford. Peggy is survived by her children, Roy Lee (Julie) Hensley and Rick Hensley (Chris Snyder); her grandchildren, Cera, Stephanie (Ethan), and Lauren; step-grandchildren, Cody, Nick, and Lindsey; and four step-great-grandchildren, Reagan, Chatham, Clayton, and Abigail, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by her brothers, Al Dike and Tom (Judy) Dike; sisters-in-law Jan (Dale) Higdon, Kay (Wayne) East, and Gill Hensley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
