Peggy L. (Mahoney) Howard, 78, of Washington, IN, passed away peacefully at Daviess Community Hospital on July 17, 2025.

She was born on April 15, 1947, in Washington. She was the daughter of Maxwell C. and Geneva R. (Pipher) Mahoney, both former Washington residents. She was preceded in death by her father on July 21, 2015, and her mother on June 29, 2020, and her brother, Mark Mahoney on July 14, 2020.

She was a proud 1965 graduate of Washington High School. Her classmates were always important to her and she had remained very active in all of her class activities since graduation. She retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, after 33 years of service in the Human Resources Department. After retirement, she worked for 7 years as an Administrative Assistant at the Moose Family Center #1080, Washington. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Past Regent, and member of the Women of the Moose, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey W. Howard of Malabar, Florida and Brian C. Howard of Otwell, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brittani N. Howard and Ericka S. Howard of Washington; and her brother, Alan C. Mahoney of Hobe Sound, Florida. She is also survived by John P. Horton, her life partner since 1986.

Burial for Peggy will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. A funeral service for Peggy will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00am at Goodwin-Sievers. Friends and family may visit from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service.
