Peggy Parish passed away January 28, 2026 after a long battle with dementia.
Peggy was born in Tennessee July 11, 1943 to Frank and Lucille Trosper. The family moved to Oaktown when Peggy was fourteen following her father's transfer with Texas Gas.
Peggy attended Oaktown High School (graduated in 1961) where she met the man of her dreams, Wilbur Parish. Wilbur and Peggy married February 06, 1962. They were blessed with two children, Terri and Tim.
She quickly mastered the life of a farmer's wife - cooking three meals a day, raising a garden, canning vegetables, and maintaining a pristine home and yard. Once the children were grown, she worked more than twenty years at Clyde's Pools in Bruceville.
She was a consistent presence in her family's life. She attended every sporting event in which her children participated.
Peggy worked tirelessly to make every holiday and birthday extraordinary and she continually succeeded in expressing her love for her family.
She was an avid reader and the master of all trivia games played with family and friends.
Peggy enjoyed free hand sketching, college basketball, playing dominos, and spending time at the casino with friends. She and Wilbur spent countless hours dancing at events with family and friends. Her love of music was endless.
She leaves behind countless memories of love, support, and pride in her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lucille Trosper, her husband of forty-two years Wilbur Parish, and her three siblings Mitchell Trosper, Annette Lance, and Wayne Trosper.
She is survived by her children Terri Perry (Gary Brand) and Tim Parish (Carrie), grandchildren Chelsea Fentress (Jeff), Carley Marx (Gavin), and Collin Parish, four beautiful great granddaughters Ella Fentress, Dani Fentress, Leah Fentress, and Lemy Marx, as well a nephew Tony Lance.
Friends may visit with Peggy's family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. Pastor Dale Biehl will officiate and Peggy will be laid to rest next to her husband Wilbur in Oaktown Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Peggy and her family. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Connie Goff for the bond created and the love shown Peggy every single day.
