Richard Allan Kopp, 88, of Vincennes, passed away the morning of September 21, 2026, at home with his two grandsons Zachary and Shane Nardine and their three dogs; Naomi, Neo, and Kiki Pepper by his side.

Rich, with his longtime business partner and brother by his side, owned and operated Vincennes Industrial Supply since 1969, CH Kopp and Sons Contractors, and Squirrel Creek/Indian Hills Apartments. He developed multiple neighborhoods and built steel buildings in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.

In 1956 he graduated from Lincoln High School and still looked forward to homecoming each year. Richard married the love of his life Veronica (Nash) Kopp on February 24, 1972. Richard was a volunteer firefighter and knew the importance of helping his community. He was involved with the Vincennes Central Business District and downtown Vincennes merchants engagements like the Christmas Stoll over the years alongside his wife and daughter, who were the owners of a women's boutique called Scruples.

In recent years, you could find Richard driving around town at a glacial pace in his big white Ford truck looking at new construction and builds around town. He was never afraid to drive right up on a worksite and ask who was in charge and what were they building. He never missed lunch at the Knights of Columbus with his friends at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Then he would retire to his home where he would pet and talk to his favorite dogs. Richard has always had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs and cats.

Born on February 24, 1938, in Vincennes, he was the son of Clarence and Letha (Jones) Kopp. His wife Veronica (Nash) Kopp, parents, four brothers, Larry Kopp, John Kopp, Jerry Kopp and Michael Kopp, and his daughter and son in law Laura and Christopher Nardine preceded him.

Surviving are his son Matthew Kopp and his wife Nuria Kopp Riera, of Dunedin, Florida; his four grandsons Zachary Nardine, Shane Nardine, Marc Kopp, and Paul Kopp; his sister Nancy Stultz of Vincennes; and niece Kelly Kopp Hopwood and her husband Joe Hopwood. He had numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m., at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Richard will be laid to rest next to his wife, daughter Laura, and son in law Christopher in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
