Robert E. Hughes, 90, of Vincennes, Indiana passed away September 25, 2025. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana on August 4, 1935, to the late Charles and Ellen (Harrington) Hughes. Robert was proudly enlisted in the National Guard for 10 years of service. Robert married the love of his life, Charlotte Smith, on August 8, 1959. He worked for several years at Dixie Orchard as a Production Manager before its closure. He continued his work purchasing part of the orchard and running his own business. Robert also worked with his wife, at their business Weavers Upholstery until their retirement. After their retirement, Robert's main focus became caring for his wife until her passing in 2008.

Robert was a member of the Coon Hunter Club and enjoyed raising and racing coonhounds. He was an avid Jeff Gordan fan until his retirement when he became a Chase Elliott fan. When he wasn't watching Nascar he could often be found watching IU Basketball, college softball, westerns, or the LA Dodgers. He will be deeply missed by all.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ellen Hughes; wife Charlotte Hughes; siblings Anna Mikiska, Jack Hughes, and infant brother Billy.

He is survived by his children Kim (Randy) Carie, Lisa (Dave) Roach, Jeff (Kim) Hughes; grandchildren Sarah (Steve) Schelfo, Adam (Ashlee) Roach, Andrew Roach, Mallory Hughes, Allie Lawrence, Fallon (Austin) Dixon; great-grandchildren Joslyn Brown, Grace and Amelia Schelfo, Broady and Rhett Roach, Gunner Lawrence, and Adaline Dixon.

Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Hughes. Visitation will be held at 524 Broadway Street on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm. The Funeral Service will begin promptly at 1 pm with burial at Memorial Park following immediately.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Samaritan Foundation, American Cancer Society, or the American Alzheimer Association.
