Robert C. Murawski passed away on January 2, 2026, following an accidental fall at his home. He was born on November 22, 1948, to Frank and Susan Murawski. Bob attended St. Mary School and was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana, where he lettered in football and wrestling. He was also active in the theater program, which sparked a lifelong love of the arts and storytelling. He attended Vincennes University, where he met Linda Williams. They were married on July 26, 1969 at Saint Mary of the Lake in Miller, Indiana. Shortly thereafter, Bob was drafted into the United States Army and served with HHC, 2nd MI Battalion (ARS) in Kaiserslautern, Germany. While stationed there, their son, Robert Cyril Murawski Jr., was born, and they were fortunate to travel throughout Europe during that time.
After his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Vincennes University, where he served as senior class president, president of Sigma Phi Epsilon, and district governor. He earned his degree in Broadcasting and later attended Indiana State University, where he obtained his Master of Public Administration.
Bob dedicated his professional life to education, service, and advocacy. He worked as an admissions counselor and later with Veteran Upward Bound, the Texas Migrant Program, and military education programs. Alongside mental health professionals, he helped establish one of the first Vietnam veteran rap groups in the country and took numerous veterans to Washington, D.C. in recognition of their service.
While working in broadcasting at WVUB, Bob became affectionately known as “Bicentennial Bob,” covering community events throughout 1976 with enthusiasm and pride. After retiring from Vincennes University, Bob continued his career further by becoming the Executive Director of Knox County United Way, partnering with the community for nearly 10 years. Along with his son, Michael, Bob was the cofounder of Frank’s restaurant in Vincennes, Indiana.
He was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, where he served as an usher. Bob was also a former member of the Rivet School Board, Rivet golf coach, basketball statistician, and Boy Scout leader. He was especially proud to sponsor several young men on their path to Eagle Scout, including his grandson, Wesley. Bob helped found the Miss Northwest Territory Pageant, raising thousands of dollars in scholarships for young women. He also coached baseball for Harmony Society. One of his fondest and most joyful roles was bringing Christmas magic to children. For over 40 years, Bob visited hundreds of children each holiday season, serving families and communities at malls in Portage, Bloomington, New Albany (NY), Evansville, Clarksville, and beyond. Nothing mattered more to Bob than family. Whether it was hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country, golf, or gymnastics, he rarely missed any of his grandchildren’s activities. He loved to travel and had visited all the lower 48 states with many vacations that included his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by me, his wife Linda; his sons Robert (Allyson) of New Albany and Michael (Amanda) of Vincennes; his siblings Stephen (Pat) of South Bend, Phil (Mary) of Colorado, Terry Brdar of Naperville, Illinois, and Joanna (Chris) of Sheridan; and many beloved in-laws. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Wesley Murawski of Newburgh, Layla Murawski of Jasper, Emerson Murawski and Isabella Murawski of New Albany, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Susan Murawski; his brother John; and his brother-in-law John. Bob lived his life guided by the principle: “To whom much is given, much will be expected in return.” He gave generously of himself, and his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.
Friends may visit with Bob's family from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN 47591. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at the conclusion of visitation beginning at 12:00 pm with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Bob and his family.
In lieu of flowers the Murawski family has requested donations be made in Bob's name to the local Boy Scout Troop # 203. Donations can be mailed to 2130 Ridge Road, Vincennes, IN 47591 or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 106 S. 3rd., Vincennes, IN 47591.
