Sergio Antonio Molina, 71, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.Born on January 8, 1955, in Venezuela, Sergio was a warm, relaxed and joyful presence in the lives of those who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, an easy way about him and a natural ability to bring lightness and laughter to those around him. He was, quite simply, a joy to be around.

Sergio never lost his deep love for Venezuela, the country of his birth. He was proud of where he came from and carried Venezuela with him throughout his life. He was the beloved son of Sergio Molina and Mina Molina, both of whom preceded him in death. He loved his parents dearly, and the values and deep sense of family they gave him remained with him throughout his life.

He also shared a deep love and affection for his siblings, Lilia Branchon, Yris Biggs, Jesus Sanchez, and the late Mireya Madderson. Although life eventually placed members of the family in different countries, those bonds endured. Sergio valued his siblings enormously and treasured the conversations, stories, memories and connection they continued to share.

Sergio was an extraordinarily strong and dedicated man. When he loved someone, he did so wholeheartedly. This was perhaps best demonstrated in his devotion to his beloved wife, Shirley. Shirley was already living with illness when they met, but that never deterred Sergio. He loved his wife, and he was determined to remain by her side and care for her. His loyalty, patience and devotion through those difficult years spoke to the very heart of the man he was.

Above all else, Sergio loved his family.

There was no greater joy in Sergio's life than his daughter, Mireya Molina - his Mireyita. He adored her, and he was never shy about telling her so. She was his pride and joy, and he could also be wonderfully overprotective - because, to Sergio, Mireyita would always be his little girl.

Some of the happiest memories of Sergio are of him simply being Dad. He once attempted to preserve the magic of Christmas, only for Mireyita to recognize Santa's handwriting as her father's. He may not have been particularly successful at disguising Santa's identity, but it became one of those treasured family stories that captured the loving and involved father he was.

He was also a stepfather to Aaron Bourlard and the late Shaun Bourlard, embracing the family that came into his life as his own.

Sergio was a happy soul who loved music and dancing, conversation, laughter, shared meals and simply being with the people he loved. He was also incredibly hardworking - probably too hardworking at times - and was always willing to help those around him.

Life presented Sergio with more than his share of challenges, but he met them with remarkable strength and determination without losing his positivity, his humor or that unmistakably laid-back way he had about him. Beneath his relaxed and easygoing nature was a man of enormous strength: loyal, determined and steadfast, particularly when someone he loved needed him.

Sergio was preceded in death by his parents, Sergio and Mina; his beloved wife, Shirley; his stepson, Shaun; and his dear sister, Mireya. Their loss was deeply felt by Sergio, and he treasured the memories and special times they had shared.

Those who knew Sergio will remember many different things about him: his humor, his determination, his kindness, his willingness to help, his hardworking nature and that wonderfully laid-back way he had about him. Most of all, however, they will remember a man who loved his family deeply and cared wholeheartedly for the people around him throughout his life.

He leaves behind his beloved daughter Mireyita, his siblings and extended family, and many friends and loved ones whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

A visitation with the family will be held on August 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home in Vincennes, located at 524 Broadway Street, Vincennes, IN 47591. This will be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the same location. Friends and family are welcome to join in honoring and celebrating Sergio’s life and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.

Sergio nunca perdió el profundo amor que sentía por Venezuela, su país natal. Se sentía orgulloso de sus raíces y llevó siempre a Venezuela en su corazón a lo largo de su vida. Fue el querido hijo de Sergio Molina y Mina Molina, quienes fallecieron antes que él. Amaba profundamente a sus padres, y los valores y el fuerte sentido de familia que ellos le inculcaron permanecieron con él durante toda su vida.

También compartió un profundo amor y cariño por sus hermanos: Lilia Branchon, Yris Biggs, Jesús Sánchez y su fallecida hermana Mireya Madderson. Aunque con el paso de los años la vida llevó a distintos miembros de la familia a vivir en diferentes países, esos lazos nunca se rompieron. Amaba a su esposa y estaba decidido a permanecer a su lado y cuidarla. Su lealtad, paciencia y entrega durante aquellos años difíciles reflejaban la esencia misma del hombre que era.

Por encima de todo, Sergio amaba a su familia.

No hubo mayor alegría en la vida de Sergio que su hija, Mireya Molina —su Mireyita—. La adoraba y nunca dudaba en decírselo. Ella era su orgullo y su alegría, y él podía ser maravillosamente sobreprotector con ella, porque para Sergio, Mireyita siempre sería su niña.

Algunos de los recuerdos más felices de Sergio son simplemente los de él siendo papá. En una ocasión intentó mantener viva la magia de la Navidad, pero Mireyita reconoció la letra de Santa Claus como la de su propio padre. Puede que Sergio no tuviera demasiado éxito ocultando la verdadera identidad de Santa, pero aquello se convirtió en una de esas entrañables historias familiares que reflejaban el padre cariñoso y presente que era.

También fue padrastro de Aaron Boulard y del fallecido Shaun Boulard, acogiendo como propia a la familia que llegó a formar parte de su vida.

Sergio era un alma alegre a quien le encantaban la música y el baile, las conversaciones, las risas, compartir una comida y, sencillamente, estar junto a las personas que amaba. También era increíblemente trabajador —probablemente demasiado trabajador en algunas ocasiones— y siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a quienes lo rodeaban.

La vida le presentó a Sergio más dificultades de las que le correspondían, pero las afrontó con una fortaleza y determinación extraordinarias, sin perder su actitud positiva, su sentido del humor ni esa inconfundible manera relajada de tomarse la vida. Detrás de su carácter tranquilo y despreocupado había un hombre de enorme fortaleza: leal, decidido e inquebrantable, especialmente cuando alguien a quien amaba lo necesitaba.

Antes que Sergio fallecieron sus padres, Sergio y Mina; su amada esposa, Shirley; su hijastro, Shaun; y su querida hermana, Mireya. Sergio sintió profundamente cada una de estas pérdidas y atesoró siempre los recuerdos y los momentos especiales que había compartido con ellos.

Quienes conocieron a Sergio recordarán muchas cosas diferentes de él: su sentido del humor, su determinación, su bondad, su disposición para ayudar, su naturaleza trabajadora y esa maravillosa forma relajada que tenía de afrontar la vida. Pero, por encima de todo, recordarán a un hombre que amó profundamente a su familia y que cuidó de todo corazón a las personas que lo rodearon a lo largo de su vida.

Sergio deja a su querida hija Mireyita, a sus hermanos, a su familia extendida y a muchos amigos y seres queridos cuyas vidas fueron más alegres y luminosas por haber tenido la fortuna de conocerlo.
