Stephen C. Mills, 84, of Washington, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his family on January 12, 2026, at Legends Assisted Living in Washington.

He was born on November 9, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to the late Howard & Marjorie (Kopp) Mills.

Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1963-1965. On April 16, 1984, he married the love of his life, Suzanne (Scott) Mills, and they spent over 41 years together happily married.

He worked at Crane Naval Base for many years up until his retirement. Following his retirement, he went to work in maintenance.

Stephen was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith and was proud to be. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing and watching his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. Stephen had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his garden and his plants. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling out. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter.

Survivors of Stephen include his wife, Suzanne Mills of Washington, IN; his children, Chris Mills and his fiancée Heather of Ft. Branch, IN, Tracy Dlamini of Washington, IN, and Angel Mills of Washington, IN; his grandchildren, Christian Mills, Brett Mills, and Sierra Mills all of Ft. Branch, IN, and Megan Franklin and her husband Ryan of Roachdale, IN; his great-grandchildren, Mason Franklin, Miles Franklin, and Natalyn Franklin; his siblings, Charles Mills and his wife Linda of Portland, OR, and Michael Mills and his wife of San Diego, CA, Frannie Gilmore, Mary Rickle and Sue Snow; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marjorie Mills, and his sister Patricia.

There will be no public services held for Stephen, and he will be cremated per his wishes. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Stephen and his family.
