Terrill “Terry Sr.” Lee Pickett, 82, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 27, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 82nd birthday. Born on July 25, 1943, in Vincennes, Terry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose joy and humor left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
Terry was the devoted husband of Deloris Lewis-Pickett, with whom he shared 63 years. He was the proud father of three children: Carla Jean Sharon, Terry Lee Pickett (and wife, Jodi Pickett), and Kevin Dale Pickett. His legacy continues through his 17 grandchildren Amy Altoff, Samantha Wolfe, Gretchen Altman, Nathan Pickett, Jacob Pickett Hannah Pickett, Joel Pickett, Leeland Pickett, Timothy Pickett, Sunny Salters, Shay Arnold, Zen Pickett, Abi Pickett, Ivy Pickett, Ally Pickett, Haze Pickett, Silas Pickett, and 16 great-grandchildren, Emma Twitty, Saige Altman, Greta Altman, Adlynn Salters, Hadley Salters, Kamden Salters, Kelsey Pickett, Grant Pickett, Leo Pickett, Josiah Pickett, Kaylie Pickett, Nola Wolfe, Harley Wolfe, Lylah Craycraft, Elaina Craycraft, and Oliver Craycraft each of whom were loved so dearly by him and brought him so much pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Cobb-Pickett, and his brothers Mike and Randy Pickett. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Chambers, and brothers Greg and Tony Pickett.
Affectionately called “Pappy,” by first his grandchildren and eventually everyone, he was a man of genuine kindness and humor. His renowned sense of humor was truly one of his most cherished traits, and his quick wit and silly jokes brought laughter to even the hardest days. He was a pillar of love and stability for his family and a friend to many. To know Terry was truly to love him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes. Funeral services will follow on Friday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m., also at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. The burial will be at Hamline Chapel followed by a celebration of his life meal at Church of God in Monroe City. Terry’s presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will forever be a blessing.
