Thomas R. Mathis, son of Charles T. and Dorothy E. Mathis, passed away on October 19, 2026, at his home in Montgomery, IN. He was born on April 3, 1969, in Washington, IN. He graduated from Trinity Holiness Academy in 1987. He then served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Iraq during the 1st Gulf War.

After service, he moved to Arizona and worked in landscaping for several years. His children, Tabitha (Adam) Faurst, Autum Sabol, Michael Mathis and Nicholas Mathis live in Arizona, son, Travis Mathis, resides in Evansville, IN. Grandchildren are Madalyn Sabol, Charlotte Faust, and Noah and Ryan Mathis, all in Arizona. Siblings include Kimberly Edwards, Kelly Grannan, Kerrie Eggleston, Marshall Mathis, and Karen Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles. A funeral service for Thomas will be held at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle 1600 State St., Washington, IN 47501 at 11:00am ET on Friday, October 23, 2026. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington.
