It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor F. Downen, who passed away peacefully on November 2, 2026, at the age of 86.

Victor was born on September 28, 1940, in Vincennes, Indiana, where he spent the majority of his life. He graduated from Fritchton High School in 1958 and went on to make a living doing what he loved most — farming. He was proud of his work, enjoyed being part of the farming community, and especially liked attending farm equipment auctions and visiting with fellow farmers.

On March 26, 1966, Victor married Karen, the love of his life. They shared nearly 60 years together, building a family and a lifetime of memories.

Victor is survived by his beloved daughter, Vicki Hicks, and her husband, Ron, of Staunton, Virginia; his sisters, Sandra Hall and Georgia Stasulis and her husband, Al; his brother, John Downen; his brother-in-law, Doug Hooks, and his wife, Kathy; and his grandchildren, Peyton Hicks, Carver Downen Hicks, Kristen Jones, Jeremy Hollis, and J.D. Hollis.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Hazel Downen; nine siblings; his beloved wife, Karen Downen; his stillborn infant child; his son, Brian Downen; his granddaughter, Samantha Harmon; and his grandson, Sam Downen.

Victor will be remembered as a hardworking farmer, a devoted father, a loving husband, and a friend to many. He was a man who valued his family, his work, and the simple things in life. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Victor and his family.
