Wayne Brashear, a dedicated member of the Vincennes community and a beloved figure among his family and friends, departed this life on January 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 21, 1948, in Vincennes, Indiana, Wayne spent the majority of his life in the area he cherished.
Wayne served his country with honor in the Army, and his commitment to service extended well beyond his military tenure. He was a proud member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 73, served as a past 7th District Commander, and dedicated himself to various roles at the state level, showcasing his leadership and devotion to his fellow veterans.
A career man, Wayne held the esteemed position of Director of Maintenance at the Vincennes Housing Authority. His work contributed significantly to the well-being of many residents, reflecting his strong sense of responsibility and care for his community.
Wayne was a man of varied interests and passions. He loved boating, woodworking, fishing, and camping — activities that not only brought him joy but also allowed him to create lasting memories with his family. He particularly cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always eager to share in their lives and adventures.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Pam Brashear; their children, Carrie (Steven) Potts, Brian (Aimee) Evans, and Tonya (Jake) Howder; and his grandchildren, Aiden Potts, Aubree Hamilton, Melody Evans, Lillian Evans, Shawn (Abby) Chambers, Zachery (Courtney) Chambers, Kiersten Klein, Parker Howder, Kelsey Howder, as well as several great-grandchildren: Samwise Olson, Noah Fuesler, Brin Evans, Olivia Chambers, Brielle Chambers, and Blayze Howder. Wayne is also survived by his brother Dennis Lee (Deana) Brashear and his sister Donna Ruth Blair.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell, and his mother, Genevieve.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home in Vincennes, Indiana. A visitation will be held on January 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service that will commence at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Vincennes, IN.
Wayne's legacy of love, dedication, and service will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Wayne and his family.
